1. Episode 11: Grief at Yong-man’s Funeral

Episode 11 opens at Yong-man’s funeral. Hae-kang wants nothing more than to go after Chung-won right now, but Ha-ri stops him. She tells him that running off in the name of revenge is just another way of running from the pain. He stays, he grieves, and for the first time he sees how many people are standing next to him.

Yong-man was the closest thing to a father Hae-kang ever had. That is why this episode hits harder than a normal “villain gets worse” chapter. The comedy is still there, but the story is no longer about the money alone.

2. Chung-won Doubles Down

Chung-won’s side is falling into panic. His executives crawl back to him, and the new city development becomes their last lifeline. He also seems to have solved a big problem: the police chief covers up Yong-man’s death, and Chung-won rewards him with a seat at One Club.

Chung-won also tries the charm offensive. A public apology and cheaper housing turn the press around, and applications for his new project pour in. When he tries to win over Sook-jin with a penthouse, she shuts him down. She wants the reserve fund and the damages from shoddy construction, not a nicer view.

3. The Taegowon Trap and Lizard’s “Death”

Hae-kang’s crew believes the money is hidden inside Taegowon, the heavily guarded tree farm. If they can’t get in, they have to make the money come out. So Hae-kang feeds One Club a bluff that he will “clean up” Taegowon, and Chung-won takes the bait while knowing it could be a trap.

The van that leaves Taegowon turns out to be full of masked men, not cash. A brawl breaks out, Lizard arrives with the getaway car, and when Chung-won’s secretary lunges at Hae-kang with a knife, Lizard throws himself in the way. In the car to the hospital, everyone panics. Then Big Guy notices there is no blood. Lizard had stuffed a car manual under his clothes, and he admits he just wanted to enjoy being fussed over.

4. Finding the Money (and the Daddy-Long-Legs Moment)

The real money van has already left, but Hae-kang planned for that too. Ha-ri and Sook-jin wait at the gate, follow it back to the complex, and lose it at the entrance. That means the cash could be in any unit. The crew narrows it down by looking for homes with unusually low utility bills, and one apartment fits: the former president’s home.

Inside are boxes of cash, far more than the missing reserve fund. With the commissioner on Chung-won’s side, the police are not an option. So the crew plans to have Ha-jung and the facility manager confess to the embezzlement in front of witnesses, which means the apartment has to be guarded until morning.

Everyone takes turns on watch. Ha-jung and Kyung-nam get a quiet moment to admit their feelings, and Hae-kang and Ha-ri nearly get there too, until Lizard interrupts. Afterward Hae-kang offers to support Ha-ri’s law career like a Daddy-Long-Legs. Ha-ri only hears the part where the benefactor in that story ends up marrying the girl. Treat it as foreshadowing if you like.

5. Episode 11 Ending: Lizard Disappears

The next morning, Hae-kang calls a public meeting about the recovered reserve fund. The residents cheer at the news. But when the boxes are opened, they are filled with flyers about the fake family, and a text from Lizard says he betrayed them.

Hae-kang reads it as the one person who guarded the door alone finally cashing out. It is a gut punch, and it is also exactly the kind of cliffhanger the show loves.

6. Episode 12: The Truth About Lizard

The crew quickly works out that the text does not sound like Lizard, who is Hae-kang’s biggest fan. Chung-won is the one who swapped the boxes and who is using Lizard’s phone to lure Hae-kang in. Hae-kang knows it is a trap and walks in anyway, because that is where his family is.

Chung-won leaves him to die in the room, but Hae-kang and his men fight their way through everyone and come home bruised but alive.

7. The Final Counterattack

Now the crew goes on offense. One Club, already unhappy about Chung-won, turns on him using the very commissioner he had bought. Hae-kang also pressures the police chief with a ledger of his own and gets him to search Taegowon. In one move, Chung-won is branded a serial killer and Taesan is thrown off the new city project.

8. The Rooftop Showdown

Even after losing, Chung-won calls Hae-kang to the rooftop. He hands over the 17.8 billion won in cash and the knife used to kill Yong-man, practically begging to be destroyed. Hae-kang remembers his father figure’s last words, that he is a good man, and refuses to stoop to that level. He pities Chung-won instead and walks away.

9. Taking Down One Club

Chung-won then crawls back to the One Club elders and takes the fall alone, planning to climb back up as long as Taesan stands. Hae-kang arrives with his whole crew in matching pink jackets and shows the proof: the rooftop conversation was recorded, and a hidden camera was planted in Chung-won’s hospital room. If Chung-won will not take One Club down, Hae-kang will.

With the enemies on their way to prison, the intermittent family takes one last photo together.

10. Three Years Later: Where Everyone Ended Up

  • Ha-jung runs her own bakery, with the former facility manager now working for her, and she is dating Kyung-nam.
  • Je-gil is back in school and collecting scholarships.
  • Big Guy works for a friend of Ha-ri and uses all his new legal vocabulary on the job.
  • Hae-kang is released after serving his sentence and opens a law office with Ha-ri.
  • Lizard shows up with his usual flair, celebrating a release three months early for good behavior.
  • True Value now has Ru-yi’s mom as resident president and Sook-jin as tenants’ representative, and corruption has already returned in the form of a new facility manager who swapped contracts and fled. The old crew gets welcomed back to deal with it.

11. Ending Analysis

The finale is satisfying, and it is also very tidy. The way Hae-kang finally “catches” Chung-won leans on confessions and recordings that would be shaky in a real courtroom, so it works best if you read it as Hae-kang setting a stage that One Club then wrecks itself on.

What the ending does get right is the contrast between the two men. Chung-won only knows how to protect himself, and he believes people are loyal because of money or fear. Hae-kang is loyal first, which is why his crew shows up for him even when it looks like he has been betrayed. The Lizard fake-out is the clearest example: the one time Hae-kang doubts him is also the time Lizard is putting his own life on the line.
